Obituary: Selma Harward Hinson, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Caremoor Retirement Center, Kannapolis, NC after a period of declining health. She was born September 14, 1924 in Stanly County, NC, the daughter of the late Martin Luther Harward and Grace Lowder Harward. Selma was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, #7 Spinning Room for fifty years until her retirement. Her family fondly remembers many important traits about her life: she bought & paid for her own home; was a homebody that always saved money; and was always dependable. She also was a loyal person that always took care of herself and her son. He, in particular, remembers her buying three brand new Chevrolets and had perfect credit. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three brothers: Ira Harward, Robert Harward, and Conard Harward. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Memorial Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Tim McQueen. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include her son, Alvin Gerald Huneycutt & wife, Pat of Kannapolis, NC; two grandchildren, Chad Wayne Huneycutt and Travis Shane Huneycutt & wife, Amanda; five great-grandchildren, Chad Junior Huneycutt, Able Huneycutt, Hunter Alley, Nicholas Alley, and Nicole Alley. Memorials may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 1785 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
