Kannapolis

Sharon Yvonne Wingler, 79, of Kannapolis, NC passed away on October 27, 2023 peacefully in her home after suffering from a long illness. She was the true embodiment of selflessness in this life as she always gave to and provided for others. Her time on earth is now passed but we take solace that she has found peace in the good graces of the Lord.

A native of Kannapolis, she was born August 29, 1944, the daughter of the late John Chewning and Hallie Mae Davis Owensby. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Leonard Wingler, and son Michael Wingler.

Sharon worked at Cannon Mills Plant 1-Number 5 Weave Room for about 20 years before opening a daycare service. She also worked in that profession for 20 years until finally ending her working career with the Cabarrus County Sherriff's Department in 2019. She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis attending faithfully until her health declined.

Her casual interests included but were not limited to reading, doll collecting, and the love for dogs of which she cared for as family pets. She was a passionate listener of gospel music which took on greater meaning when she was no longer able to attend church. Sharon was also an avid watcher of crime drama TV shows and sports. But the greatest fulfillment was her family of which filled her with pride and the enjoyment of their company. Benevolence was her hallmark, the care for others her trademark. She was an earthly angel during her life and now she is christened with wings in the kingdom of Heaven.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Donna Robie, son-in-law Danny Robie, grandson Matthew Robie and wife Katie, of Lexington, SC; the late Michael Wingler grandsons are Blake Wingler, with wife Ashton Wingler, great-granddaughter Blakely of Kannapolis, and Joshua Wingler, with wife Lindsay Wingler, great-granddaughter Mya Wingler and great-grandson Carter Wingler of Landis; son Brian Wingler, daughter-in-law Katie Wingler of Statesville, grandsons Justin and Jacob Wingler of Concord; son Kevin Wingler, daughter-in- law April Wingler, grandson Brantlee Wingler and granddaughters Brynna and Macey Wingler of Harrisburg.
