Obituary: Shawn Ray Poling, 35, of China Grove died Friday, August 5, 2011 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Death was unexpected. Shawn was born May 25, 1976 in Adams County, Illinois a son of Gary Robert and Sandra Tallent Poling of China Grove. He attended South Rowan High School and later moved to Vancouver, British Columbia.Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 12, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Mr. Alan Kerr and Mr. Lane West. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends Thursday 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at their respective residences.Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife: Karma N. Poling and six-year-old daughter Jaida of British Columbia. One brother, Seth Poling of Kannapolis, one sister, Sherri (John) Pate of Peoria, Ill., niece and nephew Kaitlynn and Eason Pate. His maternal grandparents, Bob and June Tallent of Philadelphia, Mo.; and paternal grandmother Birdie Hild of Quincy, Ill. preceded him in death.The family asks that memorials be made to the educational fund for his daughter, Jaida.
