Obituary: A Mother of Girls Concord, NC- Shelby Jean Kimble Lambert Hampton, age 72, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Trudy Rummage, Concord, NC. She had been in declining health for the past 2 years. She was born January 10, 1938 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Edward Reid Kimble and Myrtle Viola Edgison Kimble. She was employed with the former Carol May Hosiery Mill, Concord, NC as a pre-border instructor & had worked for over 38 years until her retirement. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, Concord, NC. She loved being outside especially taking care of animals, working in her yard, working with flowers, but enjoyed spending time with her children the most. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her 1st husband, George W. Lambert, died August 6, 1982; her 2nd husband, David Reid Hampton who died September 2002; and one sister, Versie Lee Lyerly. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Gene Edwards. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 29, 2010 at the funeral home. Survivors include six daughters, Trudy Rummage & husband, Steven of Concord, NC, Kathy Simpson of Salisbury, NC, Connie Kindley & husband, Michael of Concord, NC, Kelly Tassey & husband, Paul Tassey, II of Concord, NC, Georgia Lambert of Myrtle Beach, SC, Laura Mason & husband, Dale of Concord, NC; Twelve grandchildren, Kimberly Freeman, Leslie Starr, Steven Rummage, II, Danny Ray McGraw, Jr., Brandy Kay Crainshaw, Charity Langston, Joseph Kindley, Robert Tassey, Beth Tassey, Crystal King, Robert Bryant, and George Bryant; And twenty great-grandchildren. The family would appreciate any floral arrangements in her memory since Mrs. Hampton loved flowers so much or any memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
