Sherley Ann Smith Pless

Sherley Ann Smith Pless, 82, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 15, 2024, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Sherley was born September 10, 1942, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Lester and Lucille Basinger Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry lee Pless, and a nephew, Bart Swink.

Mrs. Pless had worked for NCDMV in Kannapolis for nearly 50 years, having been owner for the last 10 years. She truly loved her work, her employees and her many clients. Sherley also loved her family and time spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, employer and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family members left with cherished memories include her sons, Mark Pless (Tonya) and Brent Pless (Marya Goodnight); brother, Nelson Smith (Cathy Beck); sister, Hazel Swink (Larry); her grandchildren, Jax Pless, Tyler Pless, Dalton Pless and Brooke Abuoelezz (Ahumed); great grandchildren, Stella Pless and Kamel Abuoelezz; former daughter-in-law, Janie K. Pless; nephews, Brian Smith and Brad Swink; nieces Rainey Robinson and Brooke Rainey; and extended family members.

A private memorial graveside service will take place at a later date.
