Sherran Leonard Armstrong

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Sherran Byrd Leonard Armstrong, age 67, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after five months of declining health. She was born January 15, 1943 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Clyde Wilson Leonard and Hazel Byrd Leonard. Sherran was employed with CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC as a registered nurse in labor & delivery for 31 years until her retirement. She was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC where she had been active in various phases of church activities. Her family fondly remembers her love of going to the beach and spending time with her family and her six grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Armstrong, Sr., who died July 25, 2009. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Franklin Heights Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Jim Grigg, Rev. Sammy Pierce, and Rev. Brad Hunt. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include her two sons, Darrell K. Armstrong & wife, Veronica of Kannapolis, NC and Richard E. Armstrong, Jr. & wife, Pamela of Concord, NC; six grandchildren, Michael, Dustin, Maria, Chad, Ryan, and Delana; and one sister, Sheila Barger of China Grove, NC.
