Sherry Daugherty Jones

Obituary: Sherry Daugherty Jones, age 72, died on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at her home after recent medical complications. She was born December 19, 1940 in Cabarrus County, N.C., the daughter of the late Cletus Alexander Daugherty and Helen Chastine Daugherty. Sherry was a 1959 graduate of Landis High School. Sherry was a homemaker for most of her life. In earlier years she had worked as a waitress at various local restaurants. Also, later she had worked for the former Cannon Mills Company for some time. She was a life-long member of Landis Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. She was also active with the Sigma Gray Dale woman's club for a number of years. Her family was her passion. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wayne Jones who died April 24, 2004; and a sister, Terry Faye Laws. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Ralph Robinette. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her sons, Larry Bradley Jones & wife, Valeria of China Grove, NC and Brian Alexander Jones & wife, Tiffany of Landis, NC; her daughters, Misty Gaye Jones of China Grove, NC and Wendy Lassiter of Thomasville, NC; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
