Obituary: Shirley Jean Bare Brown, 72, passed away Saturday morning, February 17, 2018, at her home, following a period of declining health. Born September 24, 1945 in Ashe County, NC, she was a daughter of the late John and Julie Taylor Bare. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Priscilla Melton. Mrs. Brown was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Loved by all who knew her, she will be greatly missed. Family members left to cherish the memory of Mrs. Brown include her husband, Dewey Brown; her son, Michael Brown; grandchildren, Shane Brown and his wife Gina, Lisa Newsome and Amanda Melton; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; 2 sisters and extended family members. To remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Brown, the family will receive friends at the home, 280 Sylvester Road, China Grove, on Saturday, February 24th, beginning at 1:30 pm.
