Shirley Ann Chambers

Shirley Ann Chambers, 84, gently passed away Saturday morning, February 15, 2020, at Citadel of Salisbury, where she had been a resident.

Born March 10, 1935 in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Franklin Lonzo and Janie Catherine Blackwelder Chambers.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Cora Lee Walker, John, Charlie and Jimmy Chambers, and Polly Carriker.

Shirley had attended and graduated from the nursing program at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, where she became a nurse. She had also been a great caretaker for her mother, and had been a member of St. John’s Reformed Church in Kannapolis.  Living a simple and clean life, Shirley enjoyed knitting and loved and enjoyed her pets later in life.

Family members left to fondly remember Ms. Chambers include 14 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Graveside services to celebrate the life of Shirley will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday, at Carolina Memorial Park.
