Shirley Holshouser Cline

Obituary: Shirley Dale Holshouser Cline, 83, peacefully passed away Monday morning, April 2, 2018, at her home, following a period of declining health. Born October 23, 1934 in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Agnes Misenheimer Holshouser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Dr. Thomas Brantley and her sister, Geraldine Layton. Mrs. Cline had retired from H&R Block, opening the first female owned franchise in 1965. Her business began with 1 employee and grew to more than 40 employees. In 1991, she was presented the Concord Business and Professional Women's Club employer of the year award. She had been active with various groups within the accounting profession. Mrs. Cline had been a member of Keller Reformed UCC, where she had played the organ and piano for many years, and was a Bible school teacher. She was a member of Crown Pointe Baptist Church. A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family members include her husband of 59 years, Grady Cline; her children, Thomas D. Cline, Roger P. Cline (Sherri), and Robin C. Drake (Ricky); her grandchildren, Steven P. Cline (Crystal), Randall A. Drake (Jan), Stephanie C. Lanier (Andrew), Elizabeth "Beth" C. MacPherson (John) and Brittany Cline; and 6 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 4th, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Cline will begin at 2:00 pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Revs. Gene Beaver and Steven Cline. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
