Shirley “Lee” Dawson Hall, 88, of Salisbury, went to be with her Lord on Christmas Day, 2023 at Novant Rowan Medical Center. Her death was unexpected.
A funeral service to celebrate Lee’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Piedmont Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Edwards officiating. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at the church from Noon to 1:00 PM Tuesday before the service.
Lee was born March 19, 1935, in Baltimore MD, a daughter of the late Ward E. and Katherine Phorr Dawson. In addition to her parents, Lee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Hutchins Hall, her sister, Carol D. Hile and her brother, Ward E. Dawson, Jr.
Lee was a homemaker for her family in earlier years. After graduating from Catawba College with a degree in education, she taught at Cleveland Elementary School. She had a heart for ministry to children. She had good news clubs on the weekends in her early years, ministered to her grandchildren and went on to mission trips in the Ukraine where she taught art and exemplified the love of Christ to the orphans there. Lee was a devout follower of Christ and she absolutely adored her grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to witness God’s love. Her Entire life, she loved kids. She will be dearly missed.
Lee is survived by her daughter, Susan Winecoff and husband, Todd of Salisbury, seven grandchildren, Jesse Lee, Krista Marie, Joshua Michael, Daniel Keith, Caleb Wayne, David Chase, Nathaniel Todd and her sister-in-law Joni Dawson, as well as six nieces and four nephews.
