Shirley Catherine Johns

Obituary: Shirley Catherine Johns, age 73, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Five Oaks Manor, Concord, NC after five years of declining health. She was born May 21, 1938 in Chesterfield County, S.C., the daughter of the late Carl Marion Johns, Sr. and Ivory Idelle Hurst Johns. Shirley was employed with Lowe's in Concord, NC for six years. Prior to that she worked at Concord Mills as a security guard. Shirley was thought of as a special and loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and sister. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Greg Strube and a brother, Carl Johns, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Plyler Baptist Church, 25958 Austin Road, Albemarle, NC officiated by Rev. Brian Franklin. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. Survivors include her two daughters, Lisa Brown-Franklin & husband, Ray of Monroe, NC and Deborah Denise Wyatt of Rockwell & husband, Gary; her brother, Bobby Johns of Salisbury, NC; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
