Obituary: SHIRLEY GOODNIGHT PIERCE Shirley G. Pierce, 62 of Kannapolis, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at her home. We can only imagine her joy and happiness when she saw her Heavenly Father and beloved pets Pepper and Stingray. Shirley was born on August 11, 1950 in Mooresville, NC a daughter of the late Joel Preston Goodnight and Mary Nell Lovingood Goodnight of Landis, NC. She attended and completed her education in the Rowan-Salisbury School District. She was the Administrative Executive assistant for Martin Foil at Tuscarora Yarns in Mt. Pleasant for the past 11 years and was previously employed by Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, as Administrative Executive for Humpy Wheeler. She attended Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Shirley was not only a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, but an amazing, outstanding woman that loved her family dearly and touched our lives and soul, and her presence in our life is a gift we will always be thankful for and cherish. She and her fiancé Chuck loved the outdoors and being part of the Austin Healy Car Club, traveling and spending time with family and friends and were in the process of planning their wedding, starting their new lives together. They never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest each and every day. Shirley was also involved with Hinds' Feet Farm that helps provide unique and innovative programs for adults with traumatic & acquired brain injuries. Those left to cherish her loving and fond memories are her daughter; Tracy Pierce Brown and husband Shane and grandson Devin Brown of Kannapolis, a brother; Tony Goodnight of Landis, 2 sisters; Ann Barnhardt and husband Gene of China Grove, and Jo Dishman of Kannapolis, and Shirley's Fiance` Chuck Reeves of Columbus, NC. A service in celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis with Rev. Curtis Parker officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the services at the church. At other times the family will receive friends at her daughters home in Kannapolis. Whitley' Funeral Home is serving the family.
