Shirley Hodge White

Obituary: Shirley Hodge White, 68, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House, after a period of declining health. Her funeral will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 11 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex chapel with Rev. Eddie Graham and Rev. Billy Carey officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at the Annex Chapel from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday, prior to the funeral. Shirley was born December 20, 1949, in Greensboro, the daughter of the late Leroy Hodge and Mrs. Reba Hurst Hodge of Kannapolis. In addition to her father, Shirley was preceded in death by her grandson, Jordan White. She was a lifelong area resident and was of the Evangelical Methodist faith. Shirley received her business degree from RCCC and worked for many years in office administration at Cannon Mills Plant 1 and Plant 6 and then later for Pem-America in Kannapolis until she retired in 2015. Shirley enjoyed scrap-booking and caring for her mother and her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Danny White and her mother, Reba Hurst Hodge, both of the home, her sons, Brian Hodge (Angie) of Kannapolis and Donnie White (Lisa) of Concord, Grandsons, Brayden and Avery White and her brother, Donald Hodge of Salisbury.
