Shirley Hampton Williams

Obituary: Shirley Hampton Williams, age 77, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a period of declining health. She was born March 17, 1935 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Paul Hampton and Maggie Lee Freeman Hampton. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. Shirley was employed as a bookkeeper having worked for Home Realty, Kannapolis, NC and the former Cabarrus Nursing Center, Concord, NC. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church, Kannapolis, NC. Her family fondly remembers her love of reading and working word puzzles. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. James Matchette. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 12:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her husband of almost 57 years, Thomas H. Williams, Jr.; her sisters, Ruby H. Allen of Oxford, NC and Dorothy H. Bradshaw & husband, Carl of China Grove, NC; a number of nieces and nephews; a special friend, Mildred Barnette of Kannapolis, NC; and her special poodle, Sissy.
