Sidney Lee Donehue, 67, of Landis, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

Sidney was born on March 15, 1956, in Cabarrus County to the late Sidney Wilford Donehue and Nedra Shue. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Gainey.

Sidney worked as a maintenance technician for Lance and Goodyear Tires before his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and going fishing, especially in Florida. He was a devoted husband and provider for his family. He was reserved, quiet, and had a great sense of humor. He also had a special place in his heart for his dog, Lucky.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 44 years, Frontis Donehue; two sisters, Donna Wacaster and Michelle Donehue; brother, David Donehue; two step-sons, Douglas (Jackie) Spencer and Brian Pennell; four step-daughters, Diane Hinson, Deborah Toney, Danita (Jon) Sutter, Delinda (Rob) Hathcock, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA  22116-7023 or American Heart Association P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
