Sissy Harker through the years lived a selfless life. She would give her home and the recourses to help anyone in need. Even before her husband John came along she used her house to help families- single moms giving them a place to stay to get back up on their feet. Taking in a baby boy Derek Everhart and adopting him and raising him as her own. Then came John and his daughter Brittany, thinking this a nice little family unit of four. But not for long. When Tresa, her best friend, received custody of Haleigh and asked Sissy for help. Haleigh then became a part of the family and later in her teenage years to be adopted. Then came one of the most selfless acts ever. Sitting in church and hearing the prayer request of a women in need of a kidney, God laid it on her heart to give her kidney to a complete stranger. Sandy Miller received Sissy's kidney that matched like sisters and she lived for many years from that act of selfless love. In around that same time, Sissy was actively filling their seven passenger van to over flowing. This began the bus ministry. Sissy so loved on so many children and shared with them about Jesus. In God's special way, He moved the bus ministry from one church to another to be introduced to a most wonderful women who asked the question, "Sissy you are so good with all those kids on the bus have you ever thought of being a foster parent?" So the journey being a foster mom began. Loving on so many children who were in transition of their broken lives. She was being Jesus with skin on to them. Through the state regulation of only allowing us to have certain amount of children in the home, Sissy found herself with a core of children that calls her mom and she calls them her children. Adopting in addition to Derek , Sissy and John adopted Jessy, Haleigh, Jaydon and others being place in our custody. Since the journey of the foster parenting time, the majority of the children grew up and moved out on their own. Thinking she was just going to be getting Jessy through college and raising Jaydon. She has taken in, over the last 3 years, two single moms and a homeless Brother in law,to help them get back on their feet. Sissy's life has been filled with helping many people. From providing a place to live, finding them clothes, feeding them, giving washers and dryers and vehicles away. She lived the Act chapter 2 life to share Jesus, that one day she would see them in heaven worshiping the one who sacrifice it all to give us hope through salvation. She will be greatly missed by so many but most of all by her husband and children who she poured her love into.
