Sophie Bradshaw Deal

Obituary: Sophie Bradshaw Deal, age 98, passed away on February 23, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House. She was born September 27, 1916 in Rowan County, NC, the daughter of the late Newton Flynn Bradshaw and Ada Menius Bradshaw. Sophie was one of ten children and educated in the Rowan County schools. At the time of her death she was the oldest living member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, China Grove, NC where she was active in the Carpenter Circle and the James Sunday School Class throughout the years. She was a homemaker for the majority of her life. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Oron M. Deal; nine brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, Gerald Williams. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, China Grove, NC officiated by Rev. Mark Burns. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 PM Wednesday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include her three children, Nancy Williams and Linda (Charlie) Honeycutt, both of Mt. Ulla, NC; and Leonard (Gayle) Deal of Kannapolis, NC; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1415 S. Main Street, China Grove, NC 28023.
