Stanford Ray Young

Obituary: Stanford Ray Young, 84, of 500 Penny Lane, Concord, NC died at CMC-NorthEast in Concord on Tuesday, December 8, 2009. He was born in High Point, NC on October 7, 1925, son of the late Vertice Young and the late Bercha Vuncannon Young. Mr. Young was a veteran of WW-2 serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and was a chemist for Allied Chemical Co. in Hopewell, VA and later taught school for the Essex Co. school system. He is survived by his son; Tommy Young and wife, Cindy of China Grove, NC and his daughter; Annette Young of Concord, NC and by three grandchildren; Shelley Young Morgan, Jeremy Thomas Young and Abigail Suzanne Young and by two great grandchildren; Elizabeth Quinn Morgan and Ella Makenzie Morgan. He is also survived by a brother; Nolan Young of Liberty, NC and a sister; Helen Y. Hnilicka of GA. A memorial service for Mr. Young will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, December 10th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Joey Phillips.
