Steve Redmond

Obituary: Stephan "Steve" Gavenda Redmond, 62, of Kannapolis went home to be with his heavenly Lord on October 18, 2017 after a 7 month battle with leukemia. He was born December 26, 1954 in Lincoln County, a son of the late Hoyt Marshall Redmond and Hilda Leigh James Redmond. Steve was a magistrate with Cabarrus County for the last 24 years. He was a former Kannapolis City Police Officer. Steve was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. Steve loved to cook, read, play cards with his family and was an avid Andy Griffith fan. The family will receive friends from 10 :00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 PM Saturday at Parkwood Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Michael Waters. Steve is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Pritchard and husband, Jan of Concord, Jonathan Redmond and wife, Kara of Kannapolis, 4 grandchildren, Alyssa, Alexxa and Alyvia Pritchard and Avery Redmond, two brothers, Tim and Mark Redmond, two sisters, Lisa Burleson and Melody Proctor and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CMC-Main Levine Cancer Institute, 1000 Blythe Boulevard | Charlotte, NC 28203.
