Obituary: Steven "Spanky" Brown, 44 of Mt. Gilead passed away, Tuesday June 12, 2018 at his home. Steven was born June 30, 1973 in Cabarrus Co. to his father Robbie Brown , and mother Marlene Brown. He enjoyed many things in life; playing guitar, riding motorcycles, joking and having a good laugh, cooking and grilling, he loved his dogs and spending time with the grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory, his fiancé Delores Dee Blake and grandson Zachery Blake of the home, mother, Marlene Brown, father Robbie Brown and Mom Sheree Brown, four children, Casey Brown, Colby Brown, Felecia Brown Houston (David), Sabrina Brown, two step daughters, Nicole Blake, Heather Morton (Daniel), one step son, Travis Bowman (Misty), Grandmother, Dora S. Brown, sister Laurie Dee Shannon, four half-brothers; Mark Boone, Jeff Harmon, Travis Brown (Nicole), Chad Brown (Lindsay), one half-sister Tammy Yates, three step sisters; Nickie Efrid, Michelle Cauble, Teresa Benefield, three step brothers; Timmy Gainey, Todd Gainey, Joey Johnson, and 14 grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 15, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel,conducted by Pastor Steven Cline. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Prior to the service at Whitley's Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Donor Services PO Box 98018 Washington DC 20090-8018.
