Obituary: Kannapolis - Steven Keith Hunter, Sr., age 51, of 2340 Fowler St. died Tuesday May 12, 2009 at his home after a battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday May 14 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Rev. Robert Earnhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home at other times the family will be at 2200 Fowler St., Kannapolis, the home of his sister, Shelley Payne. Steven was born November 25, 1957 in Cabarrus Co., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Baxter Ansell Hunter and Jeanette Stribling Hunter. He was a life long area resident. Steven was an Eagle Scout and a 1976 graduate of A L Brown High School. He was self employed his entire life and very devoted to his business Allways Recycling. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl H. Irwin and husband, Dan Irwin of Charleston, SC, his son, Keith Hunter, and Steven's girlfriend, Tammy Draper and her daughter, Rebekah and his sister, Shelley Payne all of Kannapolis.
