Obituary: Steven Franklin Jenkins, 52, of Salisbury died Monday, May 21, 2012 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center, Concord. Death was unexpected. Steven was born September 27, 1959 in Columbus County, NC son of Janice Strickland Jenkins Linker and stepfather the late Warren Linker of Concord and the late Jimmy Franklin Jenkins. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Jenkins. He was a member of Miami Baptist Church in Concord. Steven was employed with Pike Electric Charlotte office as fleet and garage supervisor. He loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and working in his yard. In addition to his mother and step-father he is survived by his wife of 19 years, Tammy Jones Jenkins of the home, step-son, Shane Kirk and wife Jennifer of Salisbury, step-daughter, Ashley Kirk of Salisbury, three grandchildren, Jaydan, Kiera and Eli, and his special canine friend Chloe. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. David Smith. Interment will follow in Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, May 23 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Jenkins.
