Obituary: Mr. Steven Grey Staley, 71, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at CMC-Main, Charlotte following a brief illness. Steven was born May 23, 1944 in Iredell County, NC a son of the late Clyde Wilson Staley and the late Julia Mills Staley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Staley. Steven was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church. He had served as manager of Clark's Dept. Store and also worked at Crompton-Knowles in Mooresville. He worked at Home Spectors in Charlotte prior to his retirement. Steven loved to fish, watch baseball, enjoyed music and was an avid NASCAR fan. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Anita Beaver Staley of the home, one son Allen Staley of Salisbury, one daughter, Kim Staley of China Grove, sister, Brenda Speck of Kannapolis, brother, Dean Staley and wife Linda of Lexington, and a lifelong friend, Harry Greene of Kannapolis. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Leah Staley Barringer and husband William of Salisbury, and Donovan Staley of Salisbury, and three great grandchildren, Chloe, McKenzie, and Kassidy. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 30, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Dave Bitler. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. Monday. At other times they will be at the residence.
