Steven Atwell Wike

Obituary: Steven Atwell Wike, 45, of Wilmington died April 4, 2012 in Asheville. He was born June 9, 1966 in Kannapolis. Steven grew up in Kannapolis and attended A. L. Brown High School. After high school Steven attended Wake County Community College in Raleigh and Richmond Technical College in Rockingham. Steven worked as an electrician for commercial and industrial construction projects. Steven's greatest joy was spending time with his children. He enjoyed the North Carolina beaches especially Kure Beach which he had visited as a child on family vacations. His hobbies included bicycling, hiking, and music. Steven also loved working with handicapped children and assisting the homeless. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel officiated by Rev. Alan Reid. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Whitley's. Steven was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Wike. He is survived by his wife-Elizabeth Martin Wike of Wilmington. Other survivors include his mother, Jean Wall Wike of Kannapolis and children, Zevuland Atwell Wike and Sheena May Wike of Lexington (children of Patricia Merrithew). Steven's sisters are Debbie Cross of Kannapolis, Connie Johnson and husband Derick Johnson of Kannapolis, Sharon Noblitt and husband Mike Noblitt of Kannapolis, Karen Rowland and husband Ricky Rowland of Albemarle. His nieces and nephews are Damien Cross; Carrie Milstead (J.R.); Christa Woods (Jeff) and children Tyler, Braxton, Kayla, and Rook; Erika Hudson and son Davion; Stacy Hudson and children LaMya and Jordan; Jason Hollaway (Candice) and son Camden; Jeremy Hollaway (Megan) and children Sean and Caroline; Chris Noblitt (Melanie) and son Mykel; and Rick Rowland.
