Sue Beam

Obituary: Sue Brown Beam, 76, passed away Wednesday morning, October 24, 2018, at Tucker Hospice House, following a period of declining health. Born May 16, 1942, in Iredell County, Sue was a daughter of the late Linn Clain Brown and Lucy Rodgers Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Grant Beam on December 17, 2004. Sue was a 1960 graduate of W.R. Odell High School. Earlier in life, she had worked 21 years for Aetna Life and Casualty. Always desiring to be a nurse, Sue furthered her education and became a registered nurse at the age of 50. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa . She served as a nurse at Northeast Medical Center, later retiring from Huntersville Oaks. A lifetime devoted and active member of Shiloh UMC, Mrs. Beam loved her church and church family. She had also been a member of The Miracle Club. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Mrs. Beam also loved her little dog, "Mini Moo". She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left with cherished memories are her children, Karen Beam, Randy Beam (Sharon) and Suzanne B. Ausmann (Paul); her grandchildren, Jonathan Beam (Allison), Shawn and Kellie Beam, and Gavin Ausmann; sisters, Faye Clanton (Robert) and Linda Barbee (Fred); nieces, nephews and extended family members. The family will receive friends Friday, October 26, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Mrs. Beam's life will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, at Shiloh UMC, conducted by Pastor David Cochran and Pastor Greg Hamilton. Mrs. Beam will be laid to rest with her husband in the church cemetery. Mrs. Beam will lie in state 30 prior to the services.
