Sue Byrd Eury

Sue Byrd Eury, 83 years old, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 28, 2022.  Sue was born on October 28, 1938 in Cabarrus County to the late Vernon and Robbie"Jack" Cook Byrd.

Sue had a larger-than-life personality; she never met a stranger.  She was a graduate of Concord High School in 1957 and was very active and involved in coordinating the high school’s reunions of that decade.  She worked at Frye’s Skating Rink from the mid 70’s to the late 80’s.  She also was a substitute teacher for the Cabarrus County Board of Education and worked at Bethel Elementary School from the mid 70’s to 2000.

Sue was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Lawrence Eury, and her grandson Blu Chanthaheuang.  Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Laura Vassallo and her husband, Philip; Sally Tomasek and her husband, Mark; and Missy Eury; her son, Lawrence Scott Eury; her brother, Joe Byrd and his wife, Claire, and her grandchildren; Hunter, Khettie, Matthew, Jacob, Vien and Jillian.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1st from 6-8pm and Friday, September 2nd from 12-1pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, September 2nd at 1pm in the Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with the interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Concord.
