Susie Ann (Pethel) Mccraven

Susie Ann Pethel McCraven, 66, of China Grove, peacefully passed away Monday afternoon, July 12, 2021, at Tucker Hospice House.

Born May 15, 1955, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of Peggy Ann Pethel Smith. She was preceded in death by her brother, Timmy Smith.

Susie worked as a hemmer for Cannon Mills. Following the closing of the mill, she became a wonderful housewife. She loved all of her family and treasured times spent with them. She enjoyed shopping and trips to Florida. A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family members left with cherished memories include her husband, Charles E. McCraven; her children, Shirley Baker (Jeff), David McCraven (Tausha) and Michael McCraven (Sarah); her sister, Gail Smith; her much loved grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley and Brittany Baker, Daniel McCraven (Lexus), Dillon McCraven (Amanda), Donielle Smith (Kyle), Matthew McCraven (Katie), Blake McCraven and Mary Elizabeth McCraven; 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm Thursday, July 15th at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Services to remember and give thanks for Mrs. McCraven’s life will begin at 1:00 pm Friday, July 16, 2021, in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Dennis Morgan.  Burial will follow the services at Carolina Memorial Park.
