Susie Mae Stegall

Obituary: Susie Mae Rushing Stegall, age 91, of Kannapolis passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Brian Center of Kannapolis. Mrs. Stegall was born April 3, 1926 in Union County the daughter of the late Lela Medlin Rushing and Ivan Rushing. Susie attended the Rockingham and Union County schools. She worked at Cannon Mills as a weaver until her retirement in 1987. Other interests include sewing, crocheting gardening, singing and spending time with family. She was very active member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, a member of the WMU and a fellow prayer warrior. She was preceded in death by her husband James J Stegall in August of 1977; brothers Robert, John Van and H.B. Rushing. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters Sharlene S. Sharpe (Gary) and Darlene S. Goodson of Kannapolis; granddaughters Chandra E. Godson and Kassie Goodson Watts and Marcietta Sharpe Rakshys (James); grandson Michael Sharpe; great-grandchildren Olivia Grace Goodson, Drake Fulton Watts and Cameron Rakshys. A visitation will be held 1-2:00 PM Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Franklin Heights Baptist Church with Funeral Service following at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Joe Smith and Rev. David Simpson with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 E. 33rd St, New York, NY 10016, or to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215 or to Franklin Heights Baptist Church, 2000 Lane St., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
