Obituary: Swann Arnyl Crutchfield, 77, of Kannapolis passed away Friday, August 27, 2010. He was born April 4, 1933 in Claiborne County, Tn., the son of the late Samuel and Stella Chumley Crutchfield. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Sproles and Wilma Jean Frazier and a brother, Don Edward Crutchfield. He is survived by his wife, Ruth and his brother Roger (Ann) Crutchfield of Safety Harbor, FL. Swann has five children: Deborah (Dwight) Anderson of Lancaster, PA, Stephen (Cheryl) Crutchfield of Sherrills Ford, NC, Kim (Gabe) Orlando of Richmond, VA., Kevin (Cheryl) Crutchfield of Concord, NC and Roxann (Steve) Coe of Reston, VA. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Brooke (Rodney), Luke (Tammy), Justin, Sharon (Ben), Chris, Catherine (Andre), Kristina, Matthew (Sarah), Michael, Andrew, Ryan and Ross, and 6 great-grandchildren: Jack, Kate, Annie, Sarah, Jonah and Emily. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean War, 1953-57. He began his career at Cincinnati Gas Company. Swann was a project manager at IBM and retired after 30 years. After retirement he was realtor and volunteered at the Republican office for many years. He was a member of Northwest Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and gardening. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis from 6 to 8 PM Sunday (August 29, 2010). Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday (August 30, 2010) at Northwest Baptist Church, Concord, NC, officiated by Rev. Darren Sanders. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard.
