Swansa Wright Overcash

Obituary: Swansa Wright Overcash, 77, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012 at CMC Northeast Medical Center. Swansa was born May 26, 1935 in Chesterfield, S.C. to the late James D. and Margie Rainwater Wright. She was the widow of the late Ronald Overcash, Jr. who preceded her in 1975. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a member of the Midway United Methodist Church for more than 58 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher, bible school teacher, member of the United Methodist Women "Billie Reed Circle" for more than 50 years, and served as the United Methodist Women President; She was a CMC volunteer, was active with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, a reading tutor, and a teacher's assistant at Fred L. Wilson for many years. Survivors include a son, Alan Overcash and his wife, Kathy of Meridian, Mississippi; three daughters, Sue Overcash Shelton and husband, Garry, Carol Overcash, and Jennifer Overcash all of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Jason Shelton and his fiancé Ashley Cramer, Dustin Shelton, David Overcash, and Christian Oleska; and a close cousin, Helen Tucker and her husband, Harvey of Kannapolis. A funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Burton Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening at Whitley's Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, 708 S. Main St. Kannapolis, NC 28081.
