Sylvia Gray (Safrit) Loggans
April 11, 1926 — October 16, 2022
Sylvia Safrit Loggans, 96, passed away peacefully October 16, 2022 at Best of Care Assisted Living in Kannapolis, NC. Born April 11, 1926 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph A and Ella Kluttz Safrit.
Sylvia was a 1943 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a 1944 graduate of King's Business School, Charlotte. She was a teacher's assistant at McAllister School and worked in the accounting department at Sears and Crescent Construction. Sylvia was a lifelong member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church where she was the organist for many years. She was a charter member in the church and was very active in many different church groups. Sylvia also played an active role in the Rimer Fire Department Auxillary.
Sylvia was a loving mother and grandmother. She grew up in the Rimer community as an only child. She was surrounded by many cousins with whom she had a lifelong bond. She also had a special bond with her grandson Jeff, who made sure she was taken care of. Jeff visited her every day at Best of Care and made sure her bowl of Hershey Chocolate was never empty.
She is survived by her son, Richard D. Loggans and wife Patricia; Daughter in-law, Joyce Loggans (husband Steve deceased); grandchildren, Jeff Loggans, Jennifer Loggans, Jason Logans, Gracen Loggans, Erin L. Sanders and husband David; and great grandchildren Janelle, Lillian, Aiden, Isabella, Sanders, and Brodie Loggans.
Aside from her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Ulysses Jim Loggans, May 1, 1965; daughter Lateena G. Loggans, Aug. 13, 2012; sons, Stephen G. Loggans, March 24, 2013 and Jonathan D. Loggans, May 1, 1988; and a grandson, Jonathan T. Loggans, December 19, 1990.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held 3:00 PM Friday, October 21, 2022 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 4500 Rimer Road, Concord, NC 28025. Rev. Ken Reed will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:30PM - 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
