Sylvia Harriet Roark

Sylvia Harriet Roark, 71, of Shelby, passed away September 29, 2020 at Atrium Health Cleveland, after a period of declining health. Born March 20, 1949 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Price and Bertie Williams Roark.

Sylvia was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting collectible bells, and gardening when her health allowed. Sylvia retired from the Charlotte Police Department.

Sylvia is survived by a daughter, Michelle Stauffacher and companion Douglas Trudeau of Camden, TN; a son, Jeff Brayboy of Shelby, NC; a sister, Evelyn “Abby” Hall of Shelby; four grandchildren, Michael Pyle and wife Jessica of Forest City, Davina Stauffacher and companion Robert Harrison of Forest City, Cierra Toney and husband Tanner of Mooresboro, and Matthew Stauffacher of Camden, TN; two great grandchildren, Braiden Garcia and David Harrison; a cousin Sheila Matthews; son in-law, David Stauffacher; and lifelong friend Karen Simmons Shelton. They will all miss her dearly and will cherish memories made over the course of the years.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Todd Pyle.

A memorial service to honor Sylvia’s life will be held at a later date.
