Obituary: Sylvia Jeanette Daniels Strother, 74, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at CHS-Northeast Medical Center following a period of declining health. She was born September 12, 1941 in Iredell County, NC a daughter of the late Wade Preston and Edna Lorena Smith Daniels. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Dean who died Oct. 19, 2015. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Stephen Strother of the home, one son, Benny Wayne Cook, Jr. of Kannapolis, two daughters, Kelly Cook Dickson (Steve) of Rockwell and Holly Cook Steele (Randy) of Kannapolis. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Matthew Stirewalt, Jay Cook, Burke Cook, and Trent Steele. Numerous special nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Unity United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Timothy L. Whittington and Rev. Carl Settle. Interment will follow in Unity United Methodist Church Cemetery. At other times the family will be at the residence of a daughter, Holly Steele. Mrs. Strother was a member of Unity United Methodist Church. She was employed by Holiday Finance in collections until her retirement due to ill health.
