Mr. Ted Warren Kale, Jr., age 81, of Charlotte passed away on January 24, 2022 after a brief battle with Liver Cancer. Ted was born on February 5, 1940 in Shelby, NC, a son of the late Ted and Pauline Mintz Kale. In addition to his parents Ted was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dean Allen of York, SC.
A memorial service to celebrate Ted’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday February 4, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Chapel, 7200 E. W. T. Harris Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28215. The Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 PM on Friday, prior to the memorial Service.
Ted was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was employed by the Mecklenburg
County Board of Education for 30 years. After his retirement in 1998, he worked for Dash
Courier Service and retired in 2019. Besides the love he had for his family, Ted loved sports.
The Baltimore Orioles, watching Johnny Unitas play football for the Baltimore Colts, and his love for the Duke Blue Devils was obvious to everyone. He also loved photography and was always taking pictures.
Ted and his wife, Sheila, were youth leaders at Plaza United Methodist Church for many
Years. He was a past Captain of the Oasis Shrine Clown Unit. He loved being a clown and all
that it involved. He also was a member of The Hickory Nuts clown group at Hickory Grove
Baptist Church. He spent his life serving others through the things that he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila, and two children. Lisa Kale Griffin and husband,
Timothy and Chris Kale and wife, Charity, his grandsons, Austin Parker and Andy Kale, his
sister, Joyce Allen and nieces and nephews, Jeff Allen, Sharon Templeton, and
Deborah Allen, and great niece, Hunter Templeton, and great nephews, Easton Templeton and
Colte Templeton and wife Grace. In addition to family, he will be missed by his cousins and
countless friends he has made over the years.
The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte Region and Dr.
Deborah Bradley for the excellent care they gave Ted during his illness.
An honorable man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior.
