Teresa Ann (Moon) Riddle

January 30, 1940 — May 6, 2022

Teresa Ann Moon Riddle went to her heavenly home on May 6, 2022, from her home in Landis, NC. She was born on January 31, 1940, in Concord, NC, to James B. and Odell Kidd Moon. To her family, Teresa was a beloved mother, Mimi, sister, and aunt.

Teresa is survived by her daughter, Marisa Riddle Rodgers; her son, Ronnie Riddle (Lora); four grandchildren: Landon Rodgers, Laura Katherine Rodgers, Annie Riddle, and Hunter Robinette; and her brother, Joe Moon (Dianne).

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, James H. "Bill" Moon, and her sister, Margaret M. O'Daniel.

Teresa was a lifelong member of Centerview Baptist Church in Kannapolis, at which she was the organist, sang in the choir, and had previously taught Sunday School.

A second generation florist, Teresa's talent could not be contained within her 23 years in her own retail store. She was internationally renowned for her designs and expertise, and she shared her gift with the world.

Teresa was a Fellow and past president of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD); past chair of Professional Floral Commentators International; and member of the Editorial council of Flowers& Magazine.

Teresa was a Life Member of the Southern Retail Florists Association; member of American Academy of Florists; and member of Teleflora's Education Specialist Team.

Teresa served as a judge for the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Las Floristas Ball pageant of headdresses in Los Angeles.

She was a key decorator for the Lexington Ball; for the Statue of Liberty dedication ceremony; and for the inauguration ceremonies of President Ronald Reagan, President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, and President Barack Obama.

Teresa decorated the White House for Christmas each season beginning with President Jimmy Carter through the terms of President Barack Obama.

Many of Teresa's designs appeared in all floral decoration publications, worldwide, including Teleflora Wedding Book, Teleflora Selection Guide, and Flowers& Magazine. She even had a floral design selected as a gift for Elizabeth, the Queen Mother of Great Britain.

Among her accolades are the American Institute of Floral Designers Distinguished Service Award, North Carolina State Florist Excellence in Leadership Award, Southern Retail Association Life Director, Pilot of the Year Award (China Grove/Landis Pilot International Club), Who's Who in American Young Women, and International Designer of the Year Award.

Teresa commentated and designed in all fifty states, including for the Society of American Florists and the Atlanta Gift Mart. Locally, Teresa was the past president of Pilot Club and the Jaycettes. She also served as consultant to many new floral shops throughout the country.
