Thelma Shue (Sloan) Archer

Thelma Ruth Sloan Shue Archer, 92, of China Grove passed away June 25, 2023, at her residence.

Thelma was born on August 16, 1930, in Iredell County to the late Arlie Watson Sloan and the late Sallie Ruth Ketner Sloan.

Thelma graduated from Landis High School in 1948.  She was a longtime member of Mount Mitchell United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School in her earlier years.  She also hosted youth activities at her home.  Thelma was an avid gardener, who loved to canned vegetables and grew her own small garden this year.  She also loved to decorate cakes and did some catering of parties and weddings.  She loved to babysit children for other families, keeping over 100 kids over a period of time.  She had impacted many lives and was loved by all.

In addition to her parents Thelma was preceded in death by her husbands, William H. Shue, Jr. and Rev. Lewis Archer, Daughter in law, Rushie Shue, Grandson, Jamie Shue, granddaughter in law Victoria Fink, brothers, Charles Sloan, Ben Sloan, Reece Sloan, Ray Sloan, Earl Sloan and sister, Arlene Westmoreland

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon Gaddy, Darrell Shue, Randy Shue and wife Vickie, Cynthia Fink and husband Dale, Angela Gillespie and husband Dewayne, and sister, Frieda Stengel and husband Ted of Wisconsin,  Grandchildren Jason Shue, Phillip Gaddy (Bryce), Patrick Gaddy (Brittany), Brittney Haigler, Nicole Keaton (Scott), Preston Shue (Jessica), Jessica Devone (Sam), Erin Jones (Jeremy), Jake Fink (Rachel), Payton Deason (Aaron), Courtney Gillespie(Corey),   Great-grandchildren, Austin Shue, Abby Shue, Madalynn Shue, Eva Shue, Jaxon Gaddy, Landen Gaddy, Baylee Devone, Braylon Devone, Leilah Hagler, Aveline  Haigler, Easton Shue, Delaney Shue, Pheobe Keaton, Rylan Keaton, Julien Jones , Hattie Deason, Olivia Fink, Corinne Jones, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Mount Mitchell United Methodist Church 6001 Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Kannapolis NC 28083 with the Rev. Joel Locklear officiating, the family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the church with burial to follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in China Grove.
