Thelma Rose McGee Broome, 88, of China Grove, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Thelma was born on March 22, 1936 in Cavite City, Philippines to the late William McGee and Emilia Pura Aro McGee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Marion Broome; son, Thomas Ralph Broome; brother, James Allison, and her sister Grace Eufracio.
Thelma retired from Concord Telephone Company after 25 years. She was of the Catholic faith and was a Lady of the Moose. In her free time, she enjoyed RV camping, cooking, and going shopping.
Those left to cherish her memory include a grandson, Gary Thomas (Melissa) Broome; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Thomas (Deshaun) Broome, Emilia Grace (Hunter) Broome, and Miranda Nicole Broome; a brother, Charles (Jakilou) Holt; and four great great-grandchildren, Lydia, Finnegan, Elijah, and Emery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow and begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Craft officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Willow Valley Cemetery in Mooresville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
