Thomas Eugene Barnhardt "Barney", 72, peacefully passed away Sunday morning, May 1, 2022, at Tucker Hospice House.
Born December 31, 1949, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of Geneva Young Barnhardt Peeler and the late Thomas Elmer Barnhardt. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Barnhardt; and a nephew, Bradley Barnhardt.
Mr. Barnhardt had honorably served his country with the US Army, was a Mason, Shriner and member of the Oasis Temple Highlander Band. He had retired from the US Postal Service, as a Kannapolis mail carrier, after 20 years of service. Barney loved his family and enjoyed riding his Harley and camping. A loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, Mr. Barnhardt will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Loving family members include his wife of 29 years, Linda Parks Barnhardt; his son, Tommy Barnhardt (Lindsey); brother, Terry Barnhardt; his much-loved grandsons, Landon, Dalton and Bryson Barnhardt; step-son, Johnny Reavis and extended family members.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 4th from 12:00-1:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev Roger Steadman. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites.
