Thomas O. Barrier

Obituary: - Thomas (Bud) O. Barrier, age 91, died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a brief illness. He was born July 11, 1920 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Lawrence Thomas Barrier and Margaret Hileman Barrier. Bud was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Machine Shop for many years until his retirement in 1987. He was a faithful member of Midway United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC. Bud was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre (New Guinea). He was also a volunteer with Meals On Wheels for many years. His family fondly remembers his interest in gardening, woodworking, and bird watching. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Rogers Barrier, who died June 26, 2005; and eleven siblings. The funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Will VanWieren. Burial will be 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his children, Charles Barrier & wife, Marilyn of Stanley, NC, Ralph Barrier & wife, LaDonna of Concord, NC, David Barrier & wife, Erika of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and daughter, Ann Little & husband, David of High Point, NC; six grandchildren, Amanda Barrier Cole & husband, Nick, Grant Barrier, Colin Barrier, Adron Barrier, Thomas Little, Nathan Barrier; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jacob Cole.
