Thomas Eugene Baucom

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Thomas Eugene (Gene) Baucom, age 87, 212 Tanglewood Drive, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a period of declining health. He was born February 8, 1922 in Union County, NC, the son of the late Clem Baucom and Cora Hargett Baucom. He was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt.#4 Weave Room for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He was known by his family to be a loving husband and father and enjoyed fishing as a special hobby. He was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church for over 50 years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Dr. Rick Felts. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 9, 2009 at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Faye Cleary Baucom; his son, Randy E. Baucom & wife, Carol of Cleveland, NC; his step-grandson, Andy Shoe.
