Obituary: Thomas "Curly" Richard Bostian, 85, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2014 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center, Concord following a short illness. Thomas was born July 26, 1929 in Rowan County, NC a son of the late Thomas Franklin and Fern Eddleman Bostian. He was a 1947 graduate of Landis High School where he excelled in academics and athletics. He was a member of the 1947 State Championship Basketball Team. He also was an Eagle Scout. Thomas was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill where he was a walk on football player in 1947-1948. He graduated with a degree as a pharmacist. After graduation he served in the US Army. He was employed with Baxter Black's Drug Store, later worked at Eckerd's Pharmacy and then at the pharmacy at the W.G. "Bill" Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury. Thomas was a member of Memorial Lutheran Chapel in China Grove. Private services will be held at a later date. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Gibson Bostian who died March 1, 2008, a son, Thomas Michael Bostian who died August 6, 1982 and a sister, Nancy Elizabeth Bostian. Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Bostian Leatherman (James) of Concord, a brother, Philip Bostian (Doris) of Winston-Salem, four grandchildren, Caroline Laughter, Ashley Hudgston, Lori Leatherman and Michael Leatherman. Three great-grandchildren also survive: Brendan Hudgston, Ettah Laughter and Hutch Laughter. A special friend, Doris Freeze also survives. The family request that in Lieu of flowers memorials be made to Memorial Lutheran Chapel, 135 Eudy Road, China Grove, NC 28023. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Bostian.
