Obituary: Tommy Cannon's unyielding faith in his Lord Jesus became glorious sight on October 13, 2015, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, North Carolina. He was born May 16, 1934, on Maple Street in Kannapolis, son of the late Paul Cannon and Naomi Biles Cannon. Tommy retired from the United States Navy after twenty-one years of service, achieving the rank of Senior Chief. He served during the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and in the Mediterranean during the "Six Days War." After retiring from the Navy, he worked with the United States Postal Service, first in Charlotte, North Carolina and then in Kannapolis. Tommy was a dedicated member of Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis, having served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and on various committees. He loved his church family dearly and delighted in worshipping with them. Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lynette Seabolt Cannon; two sons, Neil Cannon and wife, Janet, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Nathan Cannon and wife, Becky, of Charlotte, North Carolina.; two daughters, Lisa Reid and husband, Tracy, of Charlotte, and Joy Cannon and husband, Danny, of Watertown, New York; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, James Cannon and wife, Judy, of Tobaccoville, North Carolina. A brother, Michael Cannon, preceded him in death. Tommy loved his Lord and his family with all of his heart and will be greatly missed. Services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church, 1810 Moose Road, Kannapolis, North Carolina, conducted by Rev. Curtis Parker and Rev. Dean Hunter with visitation from 5:00-6:45 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will be on Saturday, October 17th, 21015 at 11:00 A.M. at Carolina Memorial Park with full military honors. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Cannon.
