Thomas Eugene "Gene" Williams

Thomas Eugene “Gene” Williams, 71, of Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 after a period of declining health. Born November 13, 1949 in Iredell County, he was the son of the late James Francis and Margie Louise Williams.

Gene loved fishing and enjoyed boating. He attended Sunrise Baptist Church.

Gene is survived by his brothers, Ray Allen Williams of Kannapolis and Gary Wayne Williams of Concord; a sister, Betty Jean Claytor (Frank) of Rockwell; three grandchildren, William, Josh, and Christina Claytor; a nephew, Roger; and three nieces Teresa, Becky and Mary. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonda Sue Claytor.

A funeral service to honor Gene’s life will be held 2:00PM Monday, February 22, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Chapel, Kannapolis. Rev. Dennis Morgan will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Door Cemetery, Mooresville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 prior to the service Monday.
