Obituary: Thomas Ray Leebrick, 87, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center, Concord. He had been in declining health but death was unexpected. He was born November 27, 1927 in Lynchburg, Va. son of the late Otis and Ruby Leebrick. Thomas was a member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church where he had been a Sunday School teacher. He was employed with Cannon Mills in early life and later worked at Zellwager Huster in Charlotte until his retirement. Thomas was a member of the YMCA volleyball team, traveling and playing in tournaments. He enjoyed golfing and repairing old televisions. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Ed Jackson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. At other times they family will be at their respective residences. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Virgie Blackwelder Leebrick, two sons, Dana Thomas Leebrick (Wanda) of Apex, NC, and Chris Leebrick (Pat) of Kannapolis, one grandson, Ryan Thomas Leebrick of Apex and a sister, Vickie Sullivan (Jim) of Montgomery, Alabama.
