Thomas Boone Rogers, Sr., 67 years old, of Davidson, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 16, 2023. Thomas was born on December 12, 1955, in San Diego County, CA to Walter and Frances Swaringen Rogers.
Thomas was a man of few words but was quick witted. He was never afraid to goof off with his grandkids and was very close to his family, especially his siblings growing up. Thomas was a graduate of Concord Senior High School in 1973. After high school he went to work for Technicon for 10 years, before following in his family’s footsteps in the painting business. Thomas loved to surf and deep-sea fish at Cape Hatteras and the Outer Banks. He liked to play golf, disc golf, and cornhole. He collected old currency, which included Confederate currency, and old coins.
Thomas was predeceased by his father, Walter Francis Rogers; his infant brother Robert Jackson Rogers and his nephew, Jackson Gourley. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Shelley Craft Rogers; his son, Thomas “Boone” Rogers, Jr. and his wife Chelsea; his daughter, Emily Baker and her husband Jared; his mother, Frances Bess Brown; his sisters, Ann Fink and her husband Keith and Helen Rogers; his brother, Richard Rogers and his wife Trish; his grandchildren, Chloe Rogers, Ava Collins, Emma Rogers, Everett Collins, Lanie Rogers, Lauralyn Rogers, and Hatteras Rogers; and a lot of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 4-6pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 6pm in the Whitley Funeral Home Chapel. A private cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Outer Banks Preservation Association, www.OBPA.org.
