Thomas E. Scarborough

Obituary: Thomas E. "Tommy" Scarborough, age 69, of Kannapolis, formerly of Charlotte died Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Tucker Hospice House after a period of declining health. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Tom was born August 25, 1950 in Mecklenburg Co., a son of the late Judge William H. and Betty Barrentine Scarborough. He graduated from Myers Park High School in 1968 and received his BA from UNCC in 1972. Tom was a joyful soul who loved life, sports and traveling, and he faithfully cultivated the connections he had with family and friends. He often enjoyed reflecting on great times from little league at Park Road elementary to shagging at the The Pad in North Myrtle Beach, Tom loved the beach, his beloved dogs and reading a good book with a glass of wine. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by grandparents Jetter and Vanessa Scarborough and James and Annie Barrentine both of Charlotte and his sister-in-law JoAnn Horn Tom leaves behind his wife Terri Horn Scarborough, daughter Emily Fite (Alec) of Ft Mill, SC, son David Stauffer of Milan Italy, cherished grandchildren Ellie Anders Fite and John Alec Fite, sister Leslie Scarborough Henderson (Greg) of Easley, SC, brother Billy Scarborough of St Petersburg FL, sister-in-law Maureen Horn Burnley, his nieces and nephews; Liz Simmons, Bo Puckett (Ann), Robin Kielar (Dave), Doug Burnley and Brandi Burnley, whom he loved like his own.
