Thomas Tilley

Obituary: Thomas Edward Tilley, age 67, of Charlotte passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at The Brian Center of Charlotte. Tom was born December 9, 1949 in Mooresville, the son of the late Raymond Edward Tilley and Mary Pruett Tilley. He was a 1968 High School graduate of A.L. Brown High School. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Viet Nam War. Mr. Tilley worked for Mel G. Thompson Surveying as a surveyor and then went to work at Matsushita Compressor Corporation as an extruder until his retirement. Tom attended Abundant Life Lutheran Church. He loved to read, rock climbing, hiking and cooking. Preceding him in death was a brother Raymond Michael Tilley. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 20 years Madlyn Lamoureux Tilley whom he married June 21, 1997; son Benjamin Nicholas Edward Tilley (Cara) of Weddington; step daughter Karen Marie Williams (Benjamin) of Clover, SC; sisters Nancy Moore (Carlton) of Statesville, Norma Cherry of Mooresville and Diane Rodgers of Kannapolis; sister-in-law Gay Tilley of Charlotte; granddaughter Arianna Tilley; grandson Benjamin Boulware Williams, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat Pita. Visitation will be from 1-2:00 PM Friday, November 24, at Whitley's Funeral Home with service at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Christopher Stout and burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the Tilley family.
