Thomas "Sonny" W. Horton Jr.

Thomas “Sonny” W. Horton, Jr., 65, of Kannapolis, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Atrium Health Cabarrus. He was born July 19, 1958, in Cabarrus County to Thomas Horton Sr. and Emma Measmer Horton.

Sonny Graduated from Northwest Cabarrus High School in 1976. He worked for Duke Energy for 46 years. Sonny loved NASCAR racing. He loved to cherish his time fishing with his brother Danny. Sonny lived a simple life. He always tried to say something funny in every conversation. Sonny wore his heart on his sleeve and was one of the nicest people you would ever meet. He will be greatly missed.

Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Emma; his brother, Danny Horton; his sons, Tim Horton and Ryan Horton and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas W. Horton Sr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM with Pastor Darren Yow officiating. Burial to follow in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
