Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Timothy Franklin Clay, age 54, passed away unexpected on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Carolinas Healthcare System- NorthEast, Concord, NC. He was born February 8, 1961 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Thomas Franklin Clay and Margaret Ann Gulledge Clay. Tim was employed with WalMart in Kannapolis, NC for thirteen years and prior to that worked at the former Fieldcrest-Cannon, Inc., Plant Four, in the weave room for twenty-eight years. He was also a member of the Baptist faith. His family fondly remembers his love of being a Dale Earnhardt fan. He also found time to fish, gold panning, and hunting. In past times he was an active member of the Kannapolis Moose Lodge where he had served as a past governor there. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Monday, September 14, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Steve Davis. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service. The family will be at the home the remainder of the time. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Mary Ann Robinson Clay; two sons, Terry Morton & wife, Tabatha and Ron Morton, both of Kannapolis, NC; four grandchildren, Dustin Morton, Terry Morton, III, and Tyler Sellers and McKenzie Morton, both of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Jeff Clay of Tuscon, AZ; David Clay & wife, LeeAnn of Kannapolis, NC; two sisters, Laura Griffin & husband, Tim of Kannapolis, NC; Cathy Clay Presley of Concord, NC; and two little canines, Mattie Mae and Tinkerbell.
